The Standards for Sedation were updated in December 2015 and various aspects were clarified.  One of these was around what Life support training the team require.

Report of the Intercollegiate Advisory Committee for Sedation in Dentistry Standards for Conscious Sedation in the Provision of Dental Care. FAQs (Revised 4/12/2015) FAQs Point 16

Practitioners must be able to provide age-appropriate immediate life support as defined by the main elements of the Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS and PILS training programmes. It is not essential to undertake a Resuscitation Council (UK) accredited ILS/PILS course. Alternative courses with equivalent content which are adapted to the needs of dental practice are acceptable: these might also include the management of common sedation, medical and dental emergencies.

This course is in-line with the 2015 Report of the Intercollegiate Advisory Committee For Sedation in Dentistry and empowers the Sedation team with the skills and competence to deal with medical emergencies common to dental practices including ILS and PILS (CPR), advanced airway management and the administration of first line drugs such as oxygen, adrenaline, glucose, glucagon, midazolam, GTN, asprin and salbutamol. This course comes in two packages.
